Hi there! I’m Kathleen!

I’m so happy you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. I am a busy mom, entrepreneur, and teacher. I have a deep love of learning and often wish there were more hours in the day!

I have had the most convoluted career path and it has made me the person I am today! I have loved all the various experiences and have learned many skills along the way.

My path has taken me through veterinary medicine, insurance, horse training, medicine and then teaching. I spent nearly ten years working in ophthalmology and just loved it. Eventually, though I knew I wanted to start a family and the long hours of medicine were not what I wanted.

While working full time I went back to school to become a science teacher. During that time I also became engaged to my long time boyfriend. I graduated from my program in May and was married in June. The icing on the cake? Pregnant in July!

It was such an amazing whirlwind. I taught for five years through two pregnancies. I have many crazy stories from that time but that will be for another time. 🙂

I may be biased but my kiddos are amazing. They are sweet, smart, and utterly adorable. You may wonder why you don’t see more pictures of them on my website. My husband and I decided that we would not post pictures of them anywhere for privacy. I don’t post on my private Facebook or anywhere else. This was simply a personal choice we made.

In my fifth year, my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and needed full-time care. I left my job to take care of her immediately. I was grateful to be in a situation where I was able to do so.

It took some time to come out of the sadness after losing my mother but once I did, I knew that I didn’t want to go back to a regular “job” anytime soon. I had bigger dreams!

I created The Virtual Schoolhouse to help online course creators have clarity on how to effectively create, market and support an amazing online course. I have taken many online courses myself, through undergraduate and graduate school, as well as through various bloggers and sites like Udemy. I have seen great courses and terrible courses. I realized that creating online courses is a fantastic way for online business owners to share their message and grow their business.

I know there are many busy moms, like me, that want the freedom that blogging can offer. The income potential of creating courses is immense.
